So, my editing software is still acting up, so I can’t make this a video yet, but I thought it would be fun to share my top products for each beauty category for the year with you and let you know which products were standouts for me. If there is a category that doesn’t have a real gem, I’ve skipped it.
Best Cleanser: Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser
This is a really gentle, mild cleanser. It is easily accessible, inexpensive, but it is, more importantly, very effective. It removes all traces of makeup and leaves my skin feeling clean and soft.
Best Toner: Michael Todd Blue-Green Algae Toner
I love this skincare brand as a whole, but I really adore this toner because it is actually quite moisturizing and clears up my skin like nothing else even though it is organic.
Best Exfoliant: Michael Todd Jojoba Charcoal Scrub
This exfoliant is effective, but not too heavy duty. Because of the jojoba beads, it is also relatively hydrating and the charcoal is a skin-clearing ingredient.
Best Spot Treatment: Proactiv Emergency Blemish Relief
This is a seriously amazing spot treatment that is a must-have for me now. Put it on a spot and you’ll see a difference by the next day.
Best Liquid Foundation: Tarte Amazonian Clay Foundation
This is a beautiful product with full coverage that is still not too drying and looks flawless on the skin.
Best Powder Foundation: L’Oreal True Match Naturale Mineral Foundation
This is a lovely powder foundation that looks very airbrushed and yet still natural.
Best BB Cream: Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream
This is such an amazing little product. It is light coverage, but it makes my complexion look significantly more radiant and evens out any splotchiness.
Best Concealer: Physician’s Formula Conceal RX
This is lovely and I’ve mentioned it a hundred times. It has great lasting power and looks natural while covering everything under the sun.
Best Blush: MAC Powder Blush in Breath of Plum
This is a gorgeous blush from the Sheertone line that has no shimmer to it but give you that “I’ve just romped in the snow” kind of look.
Best Bronzer: NYX Taupe Blush
This is a great contour shade for pale people and I use this under my cheekbones more often than not.
Best Highlighter: The Balm Mary Lou-Manizer
This one was a no brainer. This is without a doubt the most amazing highlighter I’ve ever used. It is extremely pigmented and I use it on top of my cheekbones but also as an eyeshadow.
Best Brow Product: E.L.F. Eyebrow Kit
This has been my go-to for ages. It comes with a tinted wax and brow powder that last well on the brows and can make any look.
Best Eye Primer: Urban Decay Primer Potion
This stuff makes my eye shadows last through long school days and keeps it from creasing without a blimp in the radar.
Best Eye Cream Shadow: Maybelline Eye Studio Color Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze
This cream shadow is my go-to for when I’m in a rush. It is a very nice bronze-y shade with a lot of dimension, not to mention it lasts all day and still looks vibrant.
Best Drugstore Eye Shadow Palette: NYX Caviar and Bubbles
This is a 10-color palette with extremely pigmented, natural, neutral shades.
Best High End Eye Shadow Palette: Urban Decay Naked 2
Urban Decay hit out of the ballpark with this one. I reach for this palette as a general go-to look. I like how the shadows are more cool-toned because I am very fair-complected and have green eyes.
Best Eye Liner: Urban Decay 24/7 Liner in Mildew
Another Urban Decay gem, this cool-toned, olive green liner, though horridly named, is great and makes my eye color pop, not to mention lasting all day.
Best Mascara: Rimmel Scandaleyes Lycra Flex Mascara
Rimmel’s mascara is amazing! Long, volumized, thick lashes in a single coat? Yes, please!
Best Lip Balm: Burt’s Bees Beeswax Lip Balm
I am basically in love with this. Enough said.
Best Lip Product: CoverGirl Jumbo Gloss Balms
I adore these! Not only are these lippies a hydrating balm, but they pack a colorful punch. There are a ton of colors to choose from and I wear these more often than not.
Best Shampoo: Suave Naturals Almond and Shay Butter Shampoo
An extremely hydrating shampoo that still makes my hair feel clean and soft.
Best Conditioner: Suave Naturals Almond and Shay Butter Conditioner
This is the counterpart to the shampoo. I’ve been loyal to the duo for over a year and have repurchased massive bottles multiple, multiple times.
Best Deep Conditioner: Aussie 3-Minute Miracle
YOU NEED THIS IN YOUR LIFE! It is an inexpensive, yet highly effective deep conditioner that smells heavenly and leaves my hair feeling so soft!
I hope you all have enjoyed finding out about my 2013 favorites! Let me know what products were your standouts for the year! Happy 2014, loves!
