Hi, and welcome to Beauty By Gwyneth! My name is Gwyneth Hutchinson, and I’m the creator of this little brainchild and all the content that has subsequently come to be.
My passion for beauty began as a young adolescent girl — a mere seventh grader. I began life as an obdurate tomboy who hated her dance recitals and wanted nothing more than to read books and play sports, but as I got older and matured, I fell in love with the mystifying, enchanting world of makeup. After several years of messing about and reading books to get the hang of the whole shebang, I posted my very first video on YouTube, a Forever21 fashion haul that still makes me cringe a little bit inside… and I was hooked.
Makeup, hair, and fashion has always been an art form, an idiosyncratic medium of expression that allows you to make your own statement in the world every day. With the apparent personality whitewashing that routines, school, and busy schedules brings, beauty and clothing are a way to brighten the day and add a brilliant spark of individuality to the monotony of office blocks and campus lecture halls.
As for me personally, I do have a life outside the beauty world. I’m a native of the sweltering but wonderful melting pot that is Phoenix, Arizona, where I live with my father, brother, and two rambunctious dogs, all of whom constantly keep me on my toes. Now, as I’ve rounded the corner into adulthood, I’m attending college at the University of California, Berkeley, where I’m majoring in both psychology and neurobiology concomitantly.
Beyond academia and spending time with my loved ones, I’m an avid reader, novelist, and linguist, as well as a happy health nut, a purveyor of puns (and other comparatively crude humor), and a truly proud nerd. I’ve also dedicated much of my free time to volunteering with Future For Kids, a magnificent organization that helps ‘at-risk’ and disadvantaged youth.
This fantastic online community has been a part of my life for nearly a decade now, and I hope that it makes you feel as welcome and accepted as it has me!
