Now that the much anticipated Valentine’s Day has passed, you may be in need of a makeup look for your second date! Here are my ideas on second date hair, makeup, and outfits!
The first date is all about making an impression and just getting a general sense of the other person you are out with, so pretty much anything (within reason) goes! But with the second date, you clearly liked the person enough to go out again. You will most likely be spending time getting to know each other better and have some fun. I suggest just letting your natural beauty shine through your look! The guy obviously liked you enough to take you out again, so don’t worry too much!
Face Makeup: Start with foundation! I would highly suggest a transfer-resistant foundation so that you can hug your date without getting any makeup on him. A really good transfer-resistant foundation that I have used for a long time is Revlon Color Stay. I recommend using a stippling brush to apply your foundation because it gives a very airbrushed, flawless look to the face. Now, apply concealer to any imperfections on your face (blemishes, acne scars, redness, etc.). For dark circles, try using a highlighting concealer (Maybelline Dream Lumi Touché Concealer is my holy grail!) or a salmon toned concealer to correct the darkness! The last step is powder! I highly suggest using a setting power to keep your makeup looking fresh and in place; this step will also aid in controlling shine if you have oily skin!
Eye Makeup: Keep your eyes accentuated but subtle and natural! Begin with an eye primer to prep your eyes for shadows and help your look stay in place longer without creasing. For eye shadow you can do different variations of a natural eye. My favorite way to subtly play up the eyes without eye makeup overload is as follows. Take a light pink, nude, or gold shadow (shimmery or matte) and apply it all over the lid. This will help widen and brighten your eyes. Second, take your bronzer (yes, your face bronzer!) and a fluffy crease brush and apply this to your crease, I personally adore NYC Sunny Bronzer for this because of the finish and the color. Using a bronzer instead of an eye shadow will create a natural looking contour. Next, time to tightline! Line the upper, inner rim of your eyes with a black or brown liner. This will add definition and make your lashes look fuller all while looking completely natural. For an extra pop, you can take a nude or white liner and line your waterline to wake your eyes up. Now sweep a light, shimmery color along your brow bone and inner corner to highlight the eyes. The last step is to add mascara and voila!
Cheek Makeup: Guys typically like the look of a soft, romantic flush! No packing on the blush and bronzer! The goal of this makeup is to bring out the beauty you already possess, not create an entirely new face. Stick to a blush that looks natural on your skin tone and wakes up your face, stick to the pinky tones for a more romantic look. For bronzer, keep it light. Use just enough to contour your cheekbones and warm up your skin tone. A highlight is optional but can make a big difference. Dab a little bit of highlight across the tops of your cheekbones to add a glow.
Lips: For lips I recommend going starting with a lip balm. For color, I would suggest that you choose a natural color that is similar to your natural lip color. This will keep the simplistic beauty style of the look in tact. I also think that matte colors are better than shimmery, glossy finishes. A little bit of natural gloss, emphasis on a little bit, can be added on top of your lipstick for add moisture.
Pretty much anything goes with second dates as far as hair. It really depends on where you are going! However, you can never go wrong with loose curls! Use a one inch curling iron and curl 3/4 inch to 1 and 1/2 inch sections then spray and comb out the curls to achieve flirty, girly waves.
Again, this is entirely dependent on where you are going! If you are going out to a nice restaurant wear a dress dress or skirt with some wedges! If you are going to an amusement park or the beach, shorts and a cute top are perfect! Only wear what you feel comfortable in! Confident, smiling girls are the prettiest!
My last bit of advice is to be yourself and have fun! Good luck!
