So, finals are a stressful, harrowing time. No one wants to study. No one. It’s awful, but it must be done (at least, if you want to pass or are terrible at winging it); I thought I would share my tips to making a kit to survive finals.
1. Pencils, pens, and highlighters! Oh my!
You’re going to need writing utensils during this rough time. It really helps to have colorful pens and highlighters because color coding is great to help with organizing and memorizing information and can make the experience a smidge less painful. Not really; I lie.
It is much easier to have your notes all in one place rather than sprawled out over dozens and dozens of loose leaf pages and can make it easier to make sense of a subject if you can go through the notes chronologically.
These are your best friend. Seriously. Make them. Live them. Love them. I personally prefer Quizlet.com because I like to be able to scroll through them online, on my phone, and print them out if I need.
It really helps me to be able to write papers at school, at home, and at the bookstore or library. Also, I tend to type notes and summarize books or passages along with using online resources to cross-reference things or research.
5. Your course books
You’ll need all of the books you’ve read in class and your textbooks to go over things again and learn the things you didn’t bother to pay attention to during the semester.
6. Coffee, tea, energy drinks galore!
You’re going to need caffeine as much, perhaps more than, air. I don’t really recommend energy drinks they’re horrible for you, but coffee and tea tend to do the trick for me. Keep a full cup ‘a joe in the hand that isn’t highlighting at all times.
Stay hydrated. ‘Nuff said.
Pick music that is conducive to studying, like classical and instrumental pieces or really anything that allows you to keep your focus on your studies that you won’t end up singing along to.
Not really something you can buy, but you can budget for it (see what I did there?). You need to get rest in order to succeed during your exams. Your brain will need to be functioning at its fullest capacity to ensure that you remember those facts and dates and numbers and formulas and yikes…
Have something like popcorn or apples or pretzels or carrots prepared for for you get hungry at the library or just during your study times. Don’t use hunger as an excuse to procrastinate. Prepare before you even sit down!
I hope these tips help you ace those finals (or at lets C-ce them)!
