My Favorite Cleanser!

in Skin on 16/06/14

Hey girls,

It is no secret that I am in love with the Philosophy Purity Made Simple cleanser, which I will now humorously abbreviate to PMS. It has been my HOLY GRAIL for going on four years now. I mentioned it in my very first favorites video and I still love it to this day, however it is one of the lesser acknowledged cleansers and I thought it was high time I gave PMS a proper shout out.

Let me begin with a bit of information about my skin. My skin is quite dry and dehydrated, leaving me with dry patches and tightness, along with peeling skin and general uncomfortableness. Unfortunately, paired with said dryness, my skin is also acne-prone, which is a pain in itself. Here is where the struggle really lies: most acne products are formulated for oily skin. News flash to the people who so thoughtlessly develop those products! My skin is dry and sensitive and therefore cannot usually tolerate such harsh products.

Purity Made Simple

Claim: A highly effective one-step facial cleanser. Philosophy Purity Made Simple is a pH-balanced formula that rapidly dissolves dirt and makeup while deep cleaning pores. The bestselling cleanser contains infusions of sage, chamomile, and carrot. Purity Made Simple is part of a collection of Philosophy products designed to soothe even the most dry and sensitive skin. It is a “Best of Sephora” Winner 2008.

Those are hefty claims for any product to live up to, and yet, PMS does. Firstly, and obviously the most important, I would like to point out how bloody amazing this product smells; it is soothing and fresh and calming and I LOVE IT! I swear I would wear it as a perfume. This truly is a one-step facial cleanser, though if I am wearing makeup when I wash my face, I do it twice (once to break down the makeup, once to cleanse my skin). PMS easily dissolves makeup without any vigorous rubbing, even waterproof mascaras and liners.

I use about a nickel size (give or take a little) amount of this product and work it into my skin with gentle hands for 10-15 seconds before rinsing it with water and patting dry with a wash cloth. PMS feels like silk on your skin while you use it and I always look forward to cleansing with it. My skin always feels softer and more hydrated when I’m using this and my breakouts are usually near-nonexistent after consistently using this cleanser for a few weeks. I, being a beauty girl, of course like to branch out and try new facial washes and test the hype, but I recently invested in the 42 oz. bottle of Purity to show my loyalty to the product.

Overall, I adore this cleanser and highly recommend you try it. I have also used the PMS Gel Cleanser, which is a bit too drying for my skin, but would be perfect for anyone with oily or combination skin because it is still gentle and soothing, but would also aid in oiliness.

I hope this review has inspired you to try Purity Made Simple! Let me know your thoughts on it in the comments below!

XOXO,

Gwyneth
