I don’t often review hair products because I don’t use many, but this one couldn’t be ignored! Many women have hopped on the Hair Oil Express (I’d prefer the Hogwarts Express, but to each her own) and have been using the Moroccan Oil products, which are lovely but beyond expensive.
When I saw this product in Target with my friend, Izzy, I decided it looked interesting in its vibrant, but unassuming, orange bottle. I read reviews on it when I got home and I’m inclined to agree. This product is a super star!
Claim: “Unbeatable Softness & Shine. No Oily Residue. Our Innovative leave-in treatment with precious Argan Oil from Morocco. Absorbs in an instant, restores smoothness, mends roughness, intensifies shine, deep, sleek conditioning.”
This product, let me begin by saying, is very inexpensive. I think I paid $3 for it. It is also very multi-functional with a lot of uses. It is recommended as a deep conditioning enhancer, to be added to your conditioner, as well as a leave-in treatment to be put on wet/damp hair, and as a de-frizzing and shine enhancing product to keep hair looking sleek and sexy when applied to dry hair. Now, I don’t want to add this to my deep conditioner (Aussie 3-Minute Miracle – review will be up at some point) because it could end up on my roots and weigh down my hair, but I do use this religiously on my damp hair before I comb it out and do something with it. I also occausionally use this on dry hair for added shine, softness, and hydration.
This stuff smells so freaking good, in my opinion. The oil itself, and the packaging, is a rather lively orange color, which I admit, scared me at first but I actually find is a non-issue. The scent doesn’t linger for more than a few minutes and shouldn’t prove to be a problem for anyone.
The oil is very much akin to argan or olive oil in consistency but is still light. I don’t have any issues with this weighing down my hair to making my waves/curls limp or lifeless. I would recommend using a clarifying conditioner a few times a month to rid your hair of build up from products, but I would suggest this anyway.
My only complaint is that this isn’t a pure oil treatment. Even though this is a Moroccan argan oil treatment, it does contain silicones, which are not ideal. I personally haven’t had an issue with it, but I would prefer that this be pure oil. I use about a quarter sized amount (but I have long, wavy/curly, somewhat thick hair, so it isn’t too much) on my hair in the ponytail region and have been for about the last six months.
My hair is softer, more managble, less frizzy, less tangled, more hydrated, and overall looks and feels healthier. I have had a lot of people in the past few months tell me that my hair just looked lovely and healthy, including my stylist!
