Hourglass is considered one of those holy grail brands that makes hit product after hit product, but this is the first one I’ve had the guts to purchase. The hefty price tag that usually accompanies their innovative products, despite their spectacular reputation, has always left me running for the hills. However, when I saw the truly rave reviews of their new Vanish stick foundation, I knew I had to try it. To be fair, I’ve always shied away from stick foundation because they almost always geared towards oily skin, replete with mattifying properties that don’t appeal to my dry complexion.
The Vanish stick, while a little more matte than my tastes would normally gear me towards, I actually really love this product. The thick, creamy consistency applies like a dream. Be fore-warned that this bad boy packs a big coverage punch if you apply it even a little liberally. You can definitely tailor it to your needs. I, personally, apply this more heavily on my cheeks that tend to have spots and scars, and I use it very lightly on the perimeter of my face.
The finish is what I would call semi-matte. It doesn’t dry my skin out, especially if I apply it with a beauty blender, but it does tend to cling to my really dry areas a little bit. If you’re dry, I’d recommend pairing it with a hydrating primer. The real accolade of this product, besides the remarkable coverage, is it’s staying power. This lasts on my face all day without so much as a dash of powder.
At $46, it is pricy, but that is not unreasonable for a high-end foundation. I honestly really love this product, and I’ve used it consistently for about a month with no complaints, and my skin looks flawless!
