So today I am reviewing my first-ever, powder foundation! It’s the True Match Naturale Gentle Mineral Makeup from L’Oreal! I am a big fan of the L’Oreal brand because every product I have tried from them has been pretty good and this powder foundation is no exception! Without further ado, let us get on with the review!
A while back, I decided that I wanted to buy a powder foundation simply so I could just slap it on with a bit of concealer and mascara and avoid a long makeup routine on lazy or rushed days. I have very dry skin, which is also acne-prone, so I was a bit hesistant is purchasing a powder product that I assumed would likely dry me out. When I picked this jewel up at Ulta about two months back, my expectations weren’t great.
Claim: “Discover the feeling of skin breathing freely. This skin-improving mineral formula with SPF 19 covers flawlessly, leaves your skin soft and your tone even. It’s gentle. It’s minerals.”
I think I paid $12 or $13 for this product, which is a bit pricey for a powder foundation, but I was nonetheless determined to give this product a shot. I chose the color ‘soft ivory’ which is the lightest shade of the neutral range (I have a cool undertone, but that powder looked too pink). The brush on top of the lid of this prodcut is frankly crap. Don’t use it. It makes the product look patchy and uneven and the brush itself is scratchy. I, instead, apply this product with a flat-topped kabuki brush and buff it into the skin gently.
I find that this is a very buildable coverage foundation. It can be light to medium coverage with one light application and medium-full coverage with two or so. I don’t find that this product looks particularly powdery on the face and doesn’t look heavy or cakey, which I was pleasantly surprised by; in fact, the foundation looks really natural. I either wear this over a bit of concealer (I have really bad under-eye circles) or my BB cream/tinted moisturizer/foundation for a bit of added coverage and to make it look flawless.
The L’Oreal True Match Naturale Gentle Mineral Makeup (bloody long name) has a natural, semi-matte finish. As I mentioned, my skin is very dry, but oddly enough, this looks a shiney on me about half-way through the day. Not bad, but a bit. I am not sure if this would be a great product for oily skin or not. I use a really light dusting of my normal, loose, setting powder and I am good for the entire day with no trouble. I find that this lasts really well on me and looks pretty nice throughout the long school days as long as I set it in the morning. This foundation has SPF 19, which is good for everyday wear and doesn’t break me out. My skin is pretty sensative, so that is really saying something!
The packaging on this product is a bit clunky and bulky, which I don’t like and the brush, as I mentioned, is awful. But overall, this is a really great, natural-looking powder foundation that I really enjoy using!
At A Glance:
Available At: Ulta and Drugstores
Color Selection: Massive! There is a color for everyone!
Coverage: Buildable (light to medium-full)
Staying Power: Pretty good, not astounding, but good enough
Bottom Line: A nice powder foundation that is great for bumping up the coverage of other face products or standing on its own. There is a great color range and the coverage is buildable. The packaging is a little big and the brush is horrid, but no matter. I would buy this again and I reach for it often!
I hope this review helped some of you! Let me know if you’ve tried the L’Oreal True Match Naturale Gentle Mineral Makeup and if so, what’d you think?
