It’s been far too long since I last updated you all on my life (not that my life is incredibly exciting and requires commentary or anything, but moving on…). So, I figured a new Sleepy Nights post was well overdue.
Sadly, winter break has drawn to a close and the new term has begun its reign of terror. I basically woke up on Tuesday morning (my first day back) and allowed a stream of cuss words to fall from my lips as I grumbled to myself while getting ready. I mean, whose bloody “brilliant” idea was it to have school start at 7:50 in the morning?! Anyway, my mumbling about the early morning headache aside, the new term began despite my inward protests. I think my expression was akin to someone being drug to Voldemort as I climbed in the car that morning. If you got that reference (which I assume at least most of you did), then I love you. There! You’re loved! Remember that. FOCUS, Gwyneth! Focus.
I started two new courses this semester and I really am enjoying both. My history elective in particular, which has a focus on citizenship, philosophy, and globalization. I know. I’m a nerd. I think I may be the only nerd who has never seen Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, Star Wars, or Jurassic Park, but I don’t think it is of the utmost importance. Anywho, I am absorbing the information in this class like a sponge – an annoying sponge with a history fetish, apparently. I am also taking another in-depth art course that focuses on drawing people, which is quite cool.
I was given a keyboard for Christmas (thanks, Mom) and decided that I didn’t have enough on my plate with robotics going on every single day for the next six weeks, so I figured, ‘Hey! Why not teach yourself piano?!’ Idiot. I have learned Rihanna’s Stay, Hedwig’s Theme, When Ginny Kissed Harry, Coldplay’s Clocks, and Twice by Little Dragon, which isn’t too shabby for a few hours of work and no instruction.
I have been feeling exceptionally lazy this past week. Little things, like putting on makeup, have felt like a chore and I moan and groan about them until I start, to which I then berate myself for making it such an issue. I have also grown very close with a special friend of mine… no, not a guy (HA! As if!). You guessed it. Caffeine! The joyous amounts of homework that I am drowning in after a week, which I pleasantly do, with a pleasant smile on my face, with my language remaining perfectly pleasant and not at all sailor-like, has been horrid. On the bright side, I seem to have turned a corner and now kind of know what I am talking about in my Advanced Chemistry course. Ish.
Wow, what a point-filled post. As if these ever are. Let me know what you’ve been up to!
