Today I have my first Splurge Worthy post! These will basically be makeup items that I think every single girl should have, even if they are pricey! Let me begin by saying that I do not believe that only high end makeup is good. In fact I tend to think that many drugstore products are as good or even better than the expensive ones! Now let me get into the actual post!
The Urban Decay NAKED Palette has been my new baby recently! My dad bought it for me as a random little gift for reaching 15,000 video views on YouTube. Some opinions may differ with mine, but I think Urban Decay eye shadows may be the best on the market! If you have seen ANY of my YouTube video, you would know that I literally live in their Buck eye shadow (Which happens to be included in this palette!) The eye shadows from Urban Decay are all blendable, pigmented, long wearing, and just in general, AMAZING! Now onto my review!
There are twelve beautiful, natural, wearable eye shadows in this palette. I am going to give the name a a brief description of each color.
Virgin – A gorgeous shimmery white color. This leans a little bit on the ivory side and makes the perfect highlight color! It reminds me of pearls!
Sin – A golden champagne color with a frosty finish. Sin is such a unique color! It is a champagne but it has this pinky, bronzy tone to it that is just beautiful! This makes a great lid color! This color reminds me of rose gold!
Naked – This is the eye shadow that the palette was named after (clearly)! Naked is a beautiful matte tan color. I would say it is skin colored but there are so many skin tones so that wouldn’t be politically correct! Anywhoo! Naked could actually function as a lid or crease color, depending on the look you are going for!
Sidecar – This is a very difficult color to accurately describe. Sidecar is sparkly beige taupe color! It is so beautiful and unique! This could be a lid or crease color and would look great with pretty much any color in the entire universe.
Buck – Buck is neutral matte, milk chocolate brown. I think this maybe my all time most worn eye shadow in history! I loved this color so much that I bought the full sized single in New York! This actually is a shadow that I think looks great on its own or with other shadows. I wear this on my lid sometimes but I typically use it in the crease. This a great shade for contouring and doing really natural looks.
Half Baked – This a gold color but it is a light gold. It isn’t a true gold, it is like a white-gold. I think it is so beautiful and it makes a perfect lid color for any occasion. It is very shimmery and sparkly but I don’t think it is over-kill.
Smog – This a a bronze gold color. It actually does look like smog, very sparkly, beautiful smog, but smog nonetheless. I love this for the lid or the crease and works for natural looks and smokey eyes and everything in between.
Darkhorse – This is an odd color. In a good way! It is a deep, smokey brownish charcoal. This has a mossy green tone to it as well. I think the sparkly depth of it would be great for smokey eyes!
Toasted – This is a taupey bronze color with a frosty shimmer. I personally see a lot of auburn/redish/pink to it. I think it is just a beautiful color! I think this may be my favorite color in the palette!
Hustle – Hustle is a mocha color with some bronze and plum tones to it. It is shimmery and makes a great crease color! I think that this is a very original color because I haven’t seen any dupes that are even close!
Creep – This color is beautiful. I would say it is black but it isn’t. It is almost black, but not black even to be black! Does that make any sense at all? Probably not. It would describe this as a very deep charcoal with some blueish sparkle to it.
Gunmetal – This is a very sexy blue-toned gray. Think foggy-morning-in-San-Fransisco-esque. Wow, description failure! I think the color is beautiful and as a lot of depth to it. It is very shimmery, which is a nice contrast with the charcoal tones, it keeps the color from being too dark or too blue.
So there you have it! My failed color descriptions! I don’t think any of you need yet ANOTHER rant about how amazing pigmented these are, but if you were sure, I give them a perfect score! The pigmentation is beautiful and amazing and fantastic, did I mention beautiful? I also love how these eye shadow are softer than MAC eye shadows in consistency. You don’t have to use any pressure to get the product on to your brush, where as with MAC products, you do (usually) have to swirl your brush a few times to get the amount of shadow needed! I also love how these are not too soft! You are probably questioning my sanity, talking about the softness of an eye shadow, but any hard core makeup person will get my drift there.
So overall, I think that the Urban Decay NAKED Palette is a really good investment as far as makeup goes. I am so happy that I have mine! I loved it so much that I actually bought one for my mom for her birthday! She is now in love with it too! The price is a bit of an ouchie at $50, but I actually think that for the value of the product and the quality, the price is a bargain! I would think that it would be much more expensive than it is! I would completely recommend this to everyone and I will be repurchasing!
