So now that the flowers are blooming and the cold gloom of the winter months is beginning to dissipate I wanted to share with you my top five ways to change up your makeup look for spring! The dreary winter chill tends to make me gravitate towards neutrals and natural looks, but spring is a colorful time, and there’s no reason why your makeup shouldn’t reflect the flowering frivolity!
1. Bright lipstick!
A nice pop of pink, coral, red, or even orange can be a fun change of pace! I love to match a bold lip to a fun accessory such as a necklace or pair of shoes. Vibrant colors bring life back into your face and are a great way to shed the monotony of nudes and baby pinks!
Recommendation: Rimmel London Moisture Renew Lipstick in Back to the Fuchsia or any of the Revlon gloss or matte balms
2. Bold eyeshadow!
I don’t tend to favor heavy liner in the spring months, as would be my normal M.O. the rest of the year. Instead, I find that spring is a great time to use different colored eyeshadows! If you’re bold, maybe swing towards a blue or green look, but if you still want to stay somewhat in your comfort zone, purple can be an easy color to work with and can be found in a lot of neutral hues that still make your eyes pop!
Recommendation: MAC Eye Shadow in Shale or the Costal Scents palettes that are inexpensive but offer an array of colors
3. Lighter foundation!
Spring is the time to let your skin breathe! You’ll wanna ditch the cakey foundations and full coverage and opt for something a little less intense! I love tinted moisturizers and bb creams for drier skin, but if you’re oily, try switching to a lightweight powder!
Recommendation: Lumen Time Freeze Anti-Age CC Cream
4. Strong brows!
Admittedly, I love a strong brow all year round, but you can get away with it easily when you pair it with a smooth, glossy lip or bright eyes! You don’t have to go into full-on tattoo/mold brow mode, but maybe favor filling them in a little more than normal and keeping up on grooming them!
Recommendation: E.L.F. Brow Kit
5. Blushing beauty!
Spring is all about lovely flushed cheeks to match the beautiful blossoms! Try wearing a slightly brighter blush or just a different shade. You don’t even need a heavy hand! Just a sweep of a warm coral or lively plum is all it takes!
Recommendation: Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Tipsy
