So as many of you have probably sorted out, I like nail polish. Sometimes. You see, I have this ongoing inner battle (of the lowest order) of the perks and drawbacks of nail polish. And now I’m going to lay out these arguments for you… because I can and I’m incredibly bored at the moment.
Perk: Nail polish looks pretty. It’s eye-catching and vibrant. It’s a means of expression, but a subtle one.
Drawback: When it chips, nail polish looks awful.
Drawback: It probably isn’t great for you. Nail varnish is filled with toxic ingredients that I likely don’t want to put on my person.
Perk: It makes you look put together.
Perk: I feel better and a little more attractive if my nails are done up in a nice color. On the rare occasion that I actually get them done at a salon, that whole process proves to be highly relaxing.
Drawback: It takes a while to paint your nails and then wait for them to dry. As a very busy girl, I’m constantly bouncing from place to place, task to task, commitment to commitment. So it’s difficult for me to find the half hour it takes to go through the process.
Perk: The steps of settling down, picking a color, painting your nails, and being forced to do nothing for a brief span of time can be really relaxing and the ritual tends to soothe me a little bit.
I know this whole post was kind of pointless, but I wanted to write it nonetheless. Let me know what you think in the comments below!
